The rise of Unix

ShareThisI came across a well written article about the rise of Unix and more specifically Linux and the impact that Ubuntu has had on that. I agree with much of what the author is saying and I hope that in cross posting this that he will achieve a greater audience.
Security. UNIX is not perfect and 100% immune, that's just a myth. but it is actually more than 500% more secure than Windows. This is NOT due to fact that it's not so popular, but its mere structure is designed in a way to stop viruses and malware ( the File permissions system is a good example of a structural security advantage ). And Linux for example is secure by design because it's open source nature removes any threat of a back door to your system put by the vendor to exploit you.Read more here.
