ShareThisLast week while I was on the road I used my Motorola RazR a great deal more than I normally do. It was a camera platform, a video platform and both voice and SMS messaging. All of those technologies are tremendously helpful and added not only to my enjoyment of my vacation but it was also a way to share what I was doing and seeing with family and friends back home. Mobile phones are replacing personal computers world wide and in fact in most countries except the United States and Canada mobile phone outnumber personal computers. As more and better phones are developed and as wireless data network speeds increase we're seeing a proliferation of phones and applications on those phones. Google has developed Android which is a mobile open source platform and they've released the SDK for Android so that users can develop applications for the phone. Add to that Google has set aside $10 million
Cool apps that surprise and delight mobile users, built by developers like you, will be a huge part of the Android vision. To support you in your efforts, Google has launched the Android Developer Challenge, which will provide $10 million in awards -- no strings attached -- for great mobile apps built on the Android platform.Looking for a little summer money or a way to help others. I think Android is going to rock.
